The Inauguration of Vice Rector of UMS for 2017/2021

Surakarta - Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta organized an inauguration ceremony of the Vice Rectors for 2017-2021. The event that was held at the 7th floor of Siti Walidah Main Building was attended by several prominent figures such as the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP Muhammadiyah) Dr. KH. Haedar Nashir, M.Si., the Chairman of Ketua Dikti Litbang PP Muhammadiyah Prof. H. Lincolin Arsyad, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si, and other important figures in Muhammadiyah organizational body.

This year vice rector inauguration ceremony is different from the previous ones, where this period ratifies five vice rectors in their own separate divisions. The Vice Rectors for this term are Dr. Muhammad Da'i, M.Si, Apt as the Vice Rector in Academic Division, Ir. Sarjito, M.T, Ph.D as the Vice Rector in Finance and Information System Division, Taufik, M.Si, Ph.D as the Vice Rector in Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cadre Division, Dr. Fattah Santosa, M.Ag as the Vice Rector in Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah and Collaboration Division, and Drs. Muhammad Musiyam, MTP as the Vice Rector in Human Resources and Asset Division. The Rector of UMS, Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si., directly led the inauguration ceremony and it was witnessed by Ketua Dikti Litbang PP Muhammadiyah Prof. H. Lincolin Arsyad, M.Sc., Ph.D.

In his opening speech, Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si delivered some points pertaining to the performance of rector and vice rectors to achieve the goal as World Class Research University. According to the vision and mission of UMS to produce World Quality University, there should be improvement in collaboration, management and optimization of faculty’s work performance in UMS. Therefore, it was expected that the improvement of human resources will also encourage quality output. Moreover, he also stated that the IT-based information system within UMS environment would be integrated centrally to enhance the quality for public service.

On similar note, the Chairman of Dikti Litbang PP Muhammadiyah Prof. H. Lincolin Arsyad, M.Sc., Ph.D. highly appreciated UMS objectives to achieve World Class Research University, and there should be fully-prepared human resources to do so. In addition, he also stated that Muhammadiyah universities should be able to meet the three main characters: Unggul (Superior), Berdaya saing (Competitive), and Berkemajuan (Focus on Improvement).

In his conclusion, Dr. KH. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. gave some advices that leaders should be the ones who are able to realize certain visions and missions, and pertaining to the collaboration among rector, his vice rectors and subordinates should have one united dream, utilizing human resources and expanding the network. Leaders should also able to unite the aspiration of all Muhammadiyah members and utilize it as real action. Finally, UMS serves as media for da’wah, therefore, it should always be superior in moral and research for the benefits of people and Muhammadiyah members.
