Dental Counseling and Myths Solving by UMS’s Dental and Oral Hospital

Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) Soelastri Surakarta held a counseling and dental examination at Aisyiyah Building, Surakarta on Friday (11/08/2019). This year “Gigi Sehat Hingga Usia Senja” raised as the theme. In this agenda, health cadre of Aisyiyah Surakarta attended with 80 participants.

Healthy teeth to aged counseling was explained by drg. Herliena Dyah Indriani and drg. Desy Lisa Aulia. Both speakers explained the importance of dental care to the elderly, how to care for teeth, how to treat diseased teeth, handling tartar and how to brush teeth properly. They also explained about the myths that have developed in society.

Herlina Dyah Indriani as a doctor of the Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) Soelastri explained that this activity is a form of education for elderly about the importance of teeth in old age and we hope that they can pass this information to other elderly so that they are aware of the importance of dental health.

"This activity aims to straighten out people's perception of the existence of side effects on the eyes when action is taken on the teeth. That statement is wrong or just a myth, "said drg. Desy Lisa Aulia.

Drg. Desy Lisa Aulia also asked them not to be afraid to conduct routine dental examinations every 6 months to find out the development of dental health.

Besides the counseling sessions, there is a free dental examination for the health cadre of Aisyiyah Surakarta by Soelastri Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM). This examination is the first step to detect the level of dental health of the cadres. The examination was carried out by the dentist of Soelastri Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) and 6 Co Assistant (Co ass) doctors.

According to one of the participant, Sri Lestari Ningsih (68), this activity was very useful to increase knowledge about the importance of maintaining dental health, and she hoped that this activity could run continuously to touch the entire community. Sri Arisyiyani, as the cadre of Aisyiyah Surakarta, said that this activity became an important event for health cadres of Aisyiyah, Surakarta. She added that they will pass on this knowledge to other communities.
