This course equips students with the necessary skills to excel in standardized reading tests, specifically TOEFL and IELTS. It covers key reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, recognizing referents, understanding vocabulary in context, identifying main ideas, making inferences, and comprehending opinions. The course is divided into two sections: TOEFL reading comprehension (Weeks 1–7) and IELTS reading (Weeks 8–14). Students will engage in intensive practice, discussions, and analytical exercises to enhance their reading speed, accuracy, and critical thinking.

Aligned with the values of Al-Islam dan Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK), this course emphasizes discipline, integrity, and perseverance in learning. Students are encouraged to approach standardized tests with honesty and hard work, reflecting Islamic ethics in academic excellence. Furthermore, the course promotes the value of lifelong learning (iqra’), inspiring students to seek knowledge that benefits themselves and society. Critical reading skills developed in this course will enable students to evaluate information objectively and uphold truth, aligning with Muhammadiyah’s commitment to intellectual and moral development.
