Both Semantics and pragmatics concern with the analysis of language meaning. Semantics is one of the main branches of pure linguistic study and focus its analysis on textual meaning. While pragmatics  is the study of contextual meaning or the meaning as intended by the speaker. Its analysis always involves elements outside the language, such like setting, participants, types of the genres, social norms, etc. Pragmatics is actually an inter-disciplinary study.  Although they belong to two different fields which are combined into one, but they share the same main target, that are to enable the students to understand theories of meaning,  to implement those theories to analyze meaning of  language phenomena.   and  to clarify language meaning in teaching learning process.
