This course combines language theory and foreign language learning theory. The emphasis of foreign language learning theory is on the understanding, use, and development of second or foreign language linguistic elements in foreign language learning by non-native speakers. After studying this course, students are expected to have the knowledge and experience to apply theories of foreign language (English) teaching and learning methods. The course presentation strategy includes expository, quizzes, exercises, assignments, presentations, and discussions. 80% of the teaching materials come from scientific journals. Assessment of student learning success in this course is based on elements of participation, assignments, midterm exams, and final exams.

The course material includes: learning theory and SLA, learner characteristics (learning styles, motivation), World Englishes (WEs), EIL, ELF, and English as a global language and their application in English teaching, EFL and ELF and their application in English teaching, English teaching methods, and lesson plans and teaching of the 4 language skills and reflective teaching.
