FKIP UMS Wins SBBI Awards 2026, Proof That Its Teacher Professional Development Innovations Are Recognized Nationally

The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has once again earned a proud achievement. FKIP UMS received the Excellent Institution for Innovative Professional Teacher Development award at the Solopos Best Brand and Innovation (SBBI) Awards 2026.

The award was presented at the SBBI Awards 2026 gala night held at the Arcadia Ballroom, The Alana Hotel Solo, on Friday (17/7/2026). The recognition was given in acknowledgment of FKIP UMS's contribution to delivering sustained innovation in teacher professional development.

The SBBI Awards, organized by Solopos Media Group, is a form of appreciation for institutions, companies, organizations, and brands considered capable of building trust, delivering innovation, and creating positive impact for society. This year, the awards carried the theme "Winning Value, Driving Impact."

The Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Reputation, Impact, Partnerships, and International Affairs of UMS, Prof. Supriyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., said the award marks an important moment in strengthening UMS's reputation, particularly at the faculty level.

"Usually awards are given at the university level, but now the award is being given to a faculty. This shows that UMS's reputation is not only strong at the university level but is also growing within each faculty," he said.

According to Supriyono, the achievement is inseparable from the significant contribution of FKIP UMS as the largest faculty within UMS. The wide range of academic works produced, from reputable scientific publications and international journals to success in securing various research and community service grants, stands as proof of FKIP's competitiveness at both national and global levels.

He added that the SBBI Awards recognition also serves as evidence that the innovations developed by FKIP UMS have gained acknowledgment from external parties. In his view, the appreciation from Solopos Media Group further solidifies UMS's reputation as a university that consistently produces impactful innovation.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Education, Human Resources, and Admissions of FKIP UMS, Dr. Miftakhul Huda, S.Pd., M.Pd., said the award represents recognition of FKIP UMS's commitment to advancing education through various sustained innovations.

"FKIP UMS continues to make various breakthroughs, both in academic and non-academic areas. Learning innovations are designed so that students have competencies relevant to the needs of the workforce, are able to adapt to technological developments, and are ready to face the changing times," he explained.

Beyond focusing on improving student quality, he continued, FKIP UMS also routinely develops lecturer competencies through training, knowledge updates, research, and scientific publications. These efforts are expected to have a direct impact on improving both the quality of learning and the quality of graduates.

Miftakhul Huda emphasized that this award serves as motivation for FKIP UMS to continue delivering new innovations and breakthroughs. Through the strengthening of various programs for educator professional development, UMS is committed to reinforcing its contribution to improving the quality of national education while further solidifying its reputation as a university that is excellent, innovative, and impactful for society.
