Tapak Suci athletes from the UMS have repeatedly achieved national championship honors at the National University Sports Festival in Indonesia, held in conjunction with the 59th Anniversary of Jakarta State University (UNJ). They are Aryo Seno (1st Place in Men’s Class E), Bayu Seni (1st Place in Men’s Class H), Arjun Kristio (1st Place in Men’s Class G), Jessica Metha (1st Place in Women’s Class D), Sisilia Hani (3rd Place in Women’s Single Art), Muh. Iqbal (3rd Place in Men’s Class A), and Aji Satrio (3rd Place in Men’s Class D).
Head Coach of TS UMS, Nur Subekti, S.Pd., M.Or., expressed his gratitude for the achievements of his team. This national championship serves as a warm-up and trial event for the UMS Tapak Suci team.
"This is more than our target, we targeted only 2 gold in this championship. However, thank God it can exceed the initial target. Of the 10 athletes sent, 7 won a medal," he explained, Thursday (5/25).
Achievement Scholarship
Subekti also extended special thanks to Vice-Rector III Ihwan Susila, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., and the entire Student Affairs Office for enormous support.
“The support and motivation extended to us were not limited to this event alone, but also for previous competitions, everything from facilities to provisions, and even monitoring. We hope this support will not stop because, in our pursuit of excellence, continuous collaboration is key to bolstering our reputation through achievements,” he elaborated.
This achievement was accomplished through the collaboration and unity of the entire team, starting from the art category guided by Bahrul, sparring assistant coach Krisna, and the exceptional student team with full support from the Student Affairs Office.
“I hope that in the future, students who achieve these accomplishments will not only receive financial support but perhaps also receive a scholarship for one semester, which will be adjusted based on their level of achievement,” concluded Subekti.
On the same occasion, the art category coach, M. Bahrul Ulum, expressed that this success is attributed to the consistency and unity of the team.
“The unity of the team has been evident from our training sessions. Our shared practice as Muslims to do five daily prayers and exchanging experiences has also been a crucial factor. Moreover, having adequate facilities and maintaining a fighting spirit allowed the UMS team to deliver their best performance,” he explained.
In response, the Head of Interests & Talents and Scholarship Division at the Student Affairs Office, Drs. Suyatmin Waskito Adi, M.Si., clarified that the scholarship scheme has already been discussed. However, the decision is still pending approval from the stakeholders.
“The achievement scholarship has been discussed with the rectorate and is already in progress. So far, the scholarship for new student registrations has been implemented,” he stated.
We will still accommodate the achievements of Tapak Suci UMS with the proposals that have been submitted, he continued. Furthermore, the scholarship that will be implemented will be extended to cover any achievement, and its application will not be temporary. This means that anyone with an achievement will be eligible for it.
“Congratulations to the UMS team on achieving overall second place. We in the Interests & Talents and Scholarship Division continue to help students achieve more, both at the national and international levels,” emphasized Suyatmin.
Consistency and Cohesiveness
One of the gold medalists, Aryo Seno Aji, expressed his gratitude and pride for being able to win the gold medal in this championship, thus bringing honor to UMS on the national stage.
“The experience in this competition is the unity of the team supporting each other,” he added.
Aryo Seno is one of the Sport Education students who received the Indonesia Pintar Kuliah Card (KIP-Kuliah) scholarship and is only in his second semester.
