Competition Concept

Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) is a competition that emphasizes the science (tajweed), art (melody and voice), and the ethics (adab) of Al-Qur’an recitation. The competition aims to foster a love for Al-Qur’an, enhance recitation skills, and deepen religious understanding among young people.

Tilawah Regulations
  • MTQ is a competition for male and female participants, with separate events and winners for each gender. 
  • Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an focuses on reciting the Qur’an with mujawwad reading, which includes the science of tajweed (rules of pronunciation), the art of melody and voice, and the ethics of recitation (adab).
  • The contested recitation style is the qira’at of Imam’ Ashim, narrated by Hafs using the mujawwad technique.
  • The recitation material (maqra’) ranges from juz 1 to juz 30 of the Qur’an. 
  • The committee selects 10 maqra’, and participants choose one of these pre-determined maqra.’ 
  • Participants must use at least four songs, starting with the bayati qoror song and ending with the bayati penutup and tashdiq
Stages of The Event
  • The committee determines the maqra’ (reading material), selected three days before the sadaqah event. 
  • Participants draw their serial numbers before the event begins. 
  • During their performance, participants read from the Mushaf provided by the committee. 
  • The maximum performance time is seven minutes.
  • If a participant is absent after being called three times, they are considered to have canceled or resigned unless they have previously informed the committee with a valid reason.
  • The performance time is managed using a light system:
    • First yellow light: Preparation time for the participant.
    • Green light: Participant begins reading.
    • Second yellow light: Participant prepares to end the recital.
    • Red light: Participant finishes the recital.

Venue

  • A place for registration officers and serial number assignment
  • A place for Tilawah podium, an area for participants to perform, designed to be free from disturbances that could affect their concentration.
  • A place for the panel of judges, an area for judges to sit is arranged to ensure they can see and hear the participants.
  • A place for the event guide clerk, designated area for the clerk to guide the event, ensuring they can perform their duties without interference.

  • Registration officers, responsible for taking the serial numbers of participants and maqra' registration.
  • Participant Attendants.
  • Event guide clerk, includes the MC and score officer.
  • Sound system and mic control officers
Winner

    The winners in this competition are:

  • 1st place
  • 2nd place
  • 3rd place
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Honorable Champion
