Good Governance

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The institution has established a dedicated committee, namely the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKPT), which functions as an official body mandated by the university to address issues related to equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights on campus. This committee is responsible for developing and implementing policies, providing education and training, handling complaints, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members of the university community. Through its roles and programs, the committee supports institutional commitments to equity, protection, and non-discrimination in line with national regulations and university governance structures. Learn more our equity, diversity and inclusion committeeRead our policy.

Anti-bribery and Corruption Policy

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta demonstrates the existence of an anti-bribery and corruption framework through its Employee Disciplinary Regulations (2024), which establish clear ethical standards, integrity obligations, and strict prohibitions against misconduct. The regulation explicitly requires employees to act honestly, avoid conflicts of interest, and refuse any gifts or benefits that could influence professional judgment, whether directly or indirectly . It also prohibits abuse of authority, misuse of institutional resources, and any actions that lead to personal gain at the expense of the university or others, while enforcing a structured system of sanctions ranging from warnings to dismissal for violations. Additionally, formal mechanisms for reporting, investigation, and adjudication of disciplinary breaches ensure accountability and transparency, indicating that although framed as a disciplinary code, the policy effectively functions as an institutional anti-corruption and anti-bribery safeguard. Read UMS anti-bribery policy

Ethical Values

The organisation has clearly articulated a set of ethical values such as honesty, fairness, responsibility, and respect rooted in its foundational principles and integrated into its strategic direction. These values are formally embedded within a publicly available strategic document, which serves as a guiding framework for institutional governance, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement. As outlined in the strategic plan, these ethical principles are aligned with broader institutional goals, including good governance, accountability, and long-term sustainability, ensuring that all academic and administrative activities reflect integrity and social responsibility. Learn our ethical values.

Internal Reporting System

The organisation has established an internal reporting system and formal grievance procedures to ensure that staff can safely report concerns or workplace issues. These mechanisms are designed to protect the confidentiality of whistleblowers, ensure that complaints are handled fairly and objectively, and provide a structured process for investigating and resolving employment-related matters in accordance with institutional regulations and disciplinary procedures.
