Brief Introduction of International Student Admission

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) welcomes international students from various countries to pursue Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in a diverse and supportive academic environment. UMS is committed to providing quality education and fostering global collaboration through the presence of international students from different cultural and academic backgrounds.

As part of its commitment to internationalization, UMS offers a range of academic programs that are accessible to foreign students, with opportunities to engage in intercultural learning and research. The university also encourages the development of interest in Indonesian language and culture, helping to build mutual understanding and stronger cultural ties between Indonesia and other nations.

To support international applicants, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) offers a range of scholarship opportunities aimed at fostering global education and cultural exchange. These include the International Priority Scholarship (IPS) for students from developing countries pursuing full-degree programs; the KNB Scholarship, funded by the Indonesian government for students from developing nations; the Darmasiswa program, a non-degree initiative focusing on Indonesian language and culture; The Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS),  grant program from Indonesian Government aims to support the achievement of SDGs targets, especially in the education sector; and the PP Muhammadiyah Scholarship, a master's scholarship dedicated to Palestinian students through humanitarian collaboration.

Admission Procedures

1. Registration

Applicants must complete the registration form and upload all required documents via the admission portal.

2. Selection Process

The selection phase consists of the following steps

  • Document Screening: Submitted documents will be reviewed for eligibility and completeness.
  • Essay Review: Essays uploaded during registration will be assessed for content, clarity, and critical thinking.
  • Interview: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online interview to evaluate their motivation, academic goals, and communication skills.
  • Psychological Test: Applicants who pass the interview will proceed to a psychological assessment.

3. Announcement

Final selection results will be announced via the official admission portal and email.

4. Visa Application

Accepted applicants will be guided through the visa application process facilitated by UMS.

5. Arrival

Students are expected to arrive before the orientation period begins.

6. Indonesian Language Program (BIPA)

Before the start of their academic program, students will join the BIPA program to learn the Indonesian language and culture.

7. Start of Study Program

Students officially begin their academic journey at UMS.
