This course provides students with knowledge and competencies to analyze contextual issues in Civic Education (Civics), while fostering positive attitudes and responsible behaviors that support nationalism, patriotism, civilized democracy, legal awareness, and appreciation of diversity.

Capaian Pembelajaran

  • Analyze contextual issues in Civic Education in order to foster nationalism and demonstrate patriotic behavior in everyday life.
  • Evaluate solutions to contextual issues in Civic Education in order to cultivate democratic attitudes and
  • Synthesize contextual issues in Civic Education in order to foster law-abiding attitudes and demonstrate tolerant behavior within a diverse society.

  1. The juridical foundations of Civic Education in higher education (the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the National Education System Law, Ministerial Regulations of Education, and related legislation)

  2. The philosophy and objectives of Civic Education in the era of globalization

  3. The relevance of Civic Education in fostering youth nationalism

  4. The concept of national identity and national symbols

  5. Local wisdom as the foundation of national character building

  6. National integration and threats of disintegration

  7. The constitutional structure of the Republic of Indonesia

  8. Amendments to the 1945 Constitution

  9. The hierarchy of laws and regulations (Law No. 12 of 2011)

  10. Pancasila democracy in comparison with liberal democracy

  11. Political participation of citizens

  12. Strategic issues in national life (taxation, environmental issues, gender, and drug abuse)

Item Penilaian

Student achievement in this course will be assessed through a combination of attendance and active participation (10%), individual assignments such as analytical essays and case studies (15%), group presentations (15%), a project-based assignment (Project Citizen) involving public issue analysis and policy recommendations (20%), a midterm examination evaluating conceptual understanding (20%), and a final examination measuring comprehensive and integrative analysis of civic issues (20%), for a total of 100%.
