Deskripsi
This course introduces the principles and practices of teaching English to young learners, with emphasis on child development, second language acquisition, teaching strategies for language skills and language components, lesson planning, instructional media, and assessment. It prepares students to design age-appropriate, engaging, and effective English learning experiences for children. Students are also expected to demonstrate the ability to critically reflect on their learning experiences throughout the course to enhance their pedagogical understanding and professional growth.
The course also integrates Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) values by promoting Islamic character building (akhlaq), integrity, responsibility, and social awareness through English teaching materials and classroom practices. Students are encouraged to develop learning activities that reflect Muhammadiyah educational principles and contribute to the holistic development of young learners.
Capaian Pembelajaran
- students are able to analyze teaching techniques, learning environments, and children's responses to different instructional approaches.
- students are able to create age-appropriate educational materials (APE)
- students are able to develop a comprehensive lesson plan for Teaching English to Young Learners by integrating AIK (Al-Islam dan Kemuhammadiyahan) values and child-friendly educational technology in alignment with young learners’ characteristics.
- students are able to produce a systematic and critical reflective report based on their learning experiences and observations.
