Deskripsi

This course expects students to understand and apply effective strategies for completing TOEFL Listening tests, including short conversations, longer conversations, short talks, and longer monologues, in order to achieve the required TOEFL scores. In line with the values of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan, the course also fosters honesty, discipline, perseverance, and a spirit of continuous learning, encouraging students to use their English proficiency as a means to broaden knowledge, contribute positively to society, and engage responsibly in global academic and professional contexts.

Capaian Pembelajaran

  • Students are able to apply general TOEFL Listening strategies to identify implied meanings in Part A, including negative expressions, agreement, uncertainty, suggestions, and contrary meanings, and to draw conclusions about who, what, and when.
  • Students are able to comprehend and analyze longer conversations in TOEFL Listening Part B, typically set in academic contexts, by identifying the main topic, speakers’ purposes, and the problems discussed.
  • Students are able to evaluate TOEFL Listening Part C talks or lectures by determining the main idea, supporting details, and the overall purpose of an academic presentation or discussion.

  1. General strategies for doing TOEFL Listening.
  2. Listen for Part A that consists of negative expression, expression of agreement, uncertainty, suggestion, and contrary meaning. Draw conclusion about who, what, and when.
  3. Listen for Part B that consists of longer conversation, usually in academic settings.
  4. Listen for Part C that consists of longer talks or lectures that focus on understanding the main idea, supporting details, and the overall purpose of an academic talk or presentation.
