Lexico-Grammar refers to one of levels of ‘four stratification’ in Systemic Functional Linguistics (as proposed by Halliday). Lexico-Grammar presents the meaning realization of grammatical structure of a text which is presented in clauses. In English department, Lexico-Grammar is the alternative choice of approach for syntactic analysis (as in the previous name of the subject is Syntax), in which formerly the choice of approach was structural analysis using Chinese box and transformational analysis using X-Bar approach. The alternative of chosen approach on Lexico-Grammar is oriented on the synchronization of current approach of teaching English in secondary and senior high school which bases the learning process on Functional approach. By Lexico Grammar, students are hoped to be able to produce English utterances with the reference to meaning as revealed in society. Thus, the product of English will be meaningful as people recognize it in society in accordance to its context.
