This course aims to provide students with research skills with the right method according to their research focus. Through this course, students' research abilities are developed through lecture materials that include knowledge of various types of research in education, particularly in teaching English, research design, and research methodology as well as proposal writing.

Meeting 1: Introduction to Educational Research
(Definition, purpose and importance of research in education & ELT and Types of research (quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, action research).
Meeting 2: Identifying Research Problems in ELT
(Topic and Background of the study, research gaps (novelty), research problem, the objective and contribution of the study).
Meeting 3: Literature Review in ELT Research
The role of literature study in research, Techniques for finding and evaluating sources (journals, books, articles) and Avoiding plagiarism & paraphrasing techniques.
Meeting 4: Research Design and Approaches
Selection of research approach (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed), and Example of research design in ELT.
Meeting 5: Quantitative Research Methods in ELT
Characteristics of quantitative research, Types of quantitative research design, research instruments and quantitative analysis (statistical analysis).
Meeting 6: Sampling Techniques & Data Validity and Trustworthiness.
Sampling techniques, Data validity, reliability and trustworthiness and Ethics of data collection in educational research.

Meeting 8: Qualitative Research Methods in ELT
Characteristics of qualitative research, Types of qualitative research design, research instruments and qualitative analysis (thematic analysis and qualitative analysis).

Characteristics of Mixed-Methods research, Types of Mixed-Methods research design, research instruments and Mixed-Methods analysis (triangulation).
Meeting 10: Action Research in ELT
Characteristics of action research, Types of action research design, research instruments and data analysis
Meeting 11: Writing Research Proposals
Structure of research proposal (background, problem formulation, method), Formulating research questions & hypotheses and Example of ELT research proposal.
Meeting 12: Writing Research Findings
Data visualization techniques (tables, graphs, diagrams), compiling results and interpret the findings.
Meeting 13: Writing Research Discussion
Writing a discussion and discussing the findings with previous studies.
Meeting 14: Writing Research Conclusion
Writing conclusion, the limitation of the study and the research implication.
Meeting 15: Writing References
Writing citation and references using referencing tools (APA Style 7th Edition).
