Deskripsi
This course deals with the relationship between language and mental (psychological) processes that occur in communication, especially oral communication. The main content of this introductory course includes an understanding of: (a) The mental processes of speech comprehension, (b) The mental processes of speech production, and (c) Language acquisition and development in children. This course will be a solid foundation in understanding linguistic phenomena in relation to Mind/thought and further studies.
The Qur'an views language acquisition as a gift from Allah SWT, which begins with teaching the names of objects to Prophet Adam (QS. Al-Baqarah: 31) and the ability to speak (al-bayan) as human nature (QS. Ar-Rahman: 3-4). Language is acquired through the process of listening, imitating, and the environment (interaction), and is studied to understand revelation.
