This course is a compulsory requirement for undergraduate students of the English Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). It is equivalent to 4 credits and serves as the culmination of students' academic journey. The course is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to conduct independent research in the areas of English language, literature, education, or linguistics. Under academic supervision, students are expected to identify a research problem, conduct a thorough literature review, choose suitable methodologies, collect and analyze data, and draw relevant conclusions. The final output includes a complete research report (skripsi) and a publishable article that meets academic writing standards. This course emphasizes academic integrity, critical thinking, and scholarly communication. Through this project, students demonstrate their competence in research and their readiness for professional or academic advancement. Assessment is based on the quality of the research, written report, article, and performance during the thesis defense.
