The Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) team carried out Community Service activities in the form of redesigning the building installation of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah (MIM) Gemantar, Mondokan, Sragen, which consisted of four stages for six months.

On that occasion, several speakers were present, namely Hasyim Asyari, Prof. Sarjito, Budi Setiawan, Dr. Suryaning Setyowati, Dr. Dhani Mutiari and a team of UMS Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Civil Engineering students.

The Purpose of P2AD

Hasyim Asyari, Head of the UMS P2AD Team, expresses his aspiration that through this P2AD initiative, the electrical installation within the MIM Gemantar building will meet all necessary standards, ensuring both comfort and safety for the building's occupants.

“P2AD activities involve designing electrical installation systems that seamlessly integrate renewable energy sources, such as on-grid solar panels,” he elaborated.

The design implementation can be carried out in phases, contingent upon the availability of funds. Initially, the electrical system will solely rely on PLN as the power source. However, in the future, if financial resources permit, solar panels can be seamlessly integrated into the existing electrical infrastructure without requiring any modifications.

Stages Conducted

Integrating solar panels into the MIM Gemantar building's electrical system is anticipated to minimize operational expenditures related to electrical energy consumption from PLN while simultaneously serving as an educational resource for MIM Gemantar students. This P2AD initiative was executed in four distinct phases:

  • Phase 1: Site Survey and Design (February 7, 2023)
  • Phase 2: Developed detailed installation design plans based on architectural drawings, working drawings, and Detail Engineering Drawings (DED). Prepared a comprehensive Budget and Cost Plan (RAB) outlining the project's financial requirements.
  • Phase 3: Construction Coordination and Assistance (April - June 2023). Provided ongoing coordination and assistance throughout the construction process
  • Phase 4: Final Inspection and Completion (June 10, 2023). Conducted a rigorous final inspection of the completed construction work.

Output Target

This community service aims to develop a comprehensive MIM Gemantar building redesign design package. This package will include a site plan, floor plans, elevation drawings, electrical installation designs incorporating solar panels (400 Wp capacity), and a detailed Budget and Cost Plan (RAB) accompanied by MEP calculations adhering to industry standards.
