Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again achieved international recognition in the field of innovation. A team of UMS students earned a bronze medal at the Indonesia Inventors Day (IID) 2025 with their project titled “SADHARA: Revolutionizing Mental Wellness Through AI, Reflection, and Self-Healing.”

The team was led by Hangkeen Ahmada Fosse, with members Dian Rahayu Wijayanti, Kholida Nabila, Nadzifa Salsabila Haris Putri, Muhammad Chandra Aditya, and Rezza Fahlevi. They were supervised by Rinna Ainul Maghfiroh, S.Fis., M.Sc.

SADHARA is a mental health application that leverages artificial intelligence to assist users in conducting self-reflection and self-healing independently. The innovation was inspired by UMS students’ growing concern over the rising mental health issues, particularly among university students.

“We saw many fellow students struggling with academic and emotional pressure, yet not knowing who to talk to. That’s what inspired us to create SADHARA, a safe space for sharing and self-reflection,” said Dian Rahayu Wijayanti, a member of the SADHARA team, on Saturday (11/10/2025).

During the IID 2025 exhibition, the SADHARA team showcased a prototype of their mental health application. The app features an AI-based chatbot capable of responding empathetically to users’ stories and providing positive advice tailored to their detected emotional state.

Dian shared that the preparation for the competition was intense, with each team member responsible for a different section of the presentation, practicing repeatedly to ensure readiness.

"During the judging session, the judges suddenly came to our booth when no one was there, we panicked for a moment, but thankfully everything went smoothly," Dian recalled with a relieved smile.

Although they didn’t expect to win a medal, the SADHARA team felt proud to have represented UMS on an international stage. Their success serves as proof that cross-disciplinary collaboration can lead to impactful and human-centered innovation.

“We never imagined we’d win a bronze medal at an international event. My hope is that SADHARA continues to develop and benefit many people, raising mental health awareness and competing again on an even bigger international platform,” Dian concluded with optimism.
