The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) officially conferred titles upon 22 new dentists at the 33rd Dentist Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony held at Swiss-Belhotel Saripetojo on Thursday (4/12/2025). The event coincided with the announcement of the UKMP2DG results for the 1–2 November 2025 period, in which FKG UMS once again achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate, reaffirming the faculty’s consistent excellence.

The Dean of FKG UMS, Dr. drg. Noor Hafida Widyastuti, Sp. KG., expressed her gratitude and pride for the graduates. She emphasized that this success is the result of collective hard work from the entire academic community as well as the unwavering support of parents.

“Alhamdulillah, today marks a long-awaited moment. The journey to becoming a dentist is not easy, but these 22 new dentists have proven their perseverance and dedication,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean I of FKG UMS, drg. Morita Sari, MPH., stated in her academic report that all participants had met the academic, clinical, and administrative requirements with commendable achievements. The graduates’ average GPA reached 3.51, with an average study duration of 2 years and 6 months

“This is tangible proof of the quality of our education and the clinical readiness of our students. For three consecutive UKMP2DG periods, we have achieved one hundred percent in one shot,” she noted. To date, FKG UMS has produced 506 dentists since its establishment in 2010.

The inauguration atmosphere was warm and emotional. Several parents were seen wiping away tears as they witnessed the culmination of their children’s long journey, from undergraduate studies to the professional program.

This sentiment was echoed by the UMS Vice Rector IV, Prof. Dr. Dr. Em Sutrisna, M.Kes., who reminded the graduates not to forget the role of their parents. “A parent’s prayer is often stronger than our own. Today, make sure to kiss their hands, that is the simplest form of gratitude,” he said.

In his remarks, Sutrisna encouraged the new dentists to begin mapping out their professional futures. He highlighted the broad career opportunities ahead, from clinical practice and pursuing specialist training (PPDS) to building a career in academia.

“Opportunities today are diverse. Dental clinics are growing, more specialist programs will be opened, and universities also need academic staff. Please choose the path that best matches your interests and abilities,” he said.

Sutrisna also reminded the graduates that the dental profession comes with new responsibilities. There will be heavy duties, challenging clinical cases, and an exhausting learning process. However, he noted that all of these are part of shaping one’s professional character.

“In the past, you were still under supervision. After today, you become full legal subjects in practice. That responsibility must be carried with moral readiness, professional competence, and integrity,” he stated.

He added that this inauguration strengthens FKG UMS’s commitment to providing quality, humanistic health education that is relevant to societal needs. In line with UMS’s vision of being Islamic, Enlightening, Excellent, Global, and Sustainable while directing positive change, the new dentists are expected to bring integrity, compassion, and expertise as they contribute across various sectors of health services.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from the Health Office of Surakarta City, Sukoharjo Regency, and Karanganyar Regency; board members of PDGI from three branches; and directors of partner hospitals, including RSGM Sulastri UMS, RSUD Ir. Soekarno Sukoharjo, RSBKU Muhammadiyah Delanggu, and RSUD Kartini Karanganyar. Their presence reflected strong collaborative support for the educational and clinical service processes at FKG UMS.
