Dean of the Faculty of Geography UMS, Jumadi, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., delivered the opening remarks.

Chair of ICGDM 2024, Aziz Akbar Mukasyaf, S.Hut., M.Sc., Ph.D., stated that the theme, "Interdisciplinary of Geography on Nature, Technology, and Disaster Management for Sustainable Development Goals”, acts as a bridge connecting nature and technology. He noted that our environment is currently facing climate change and natural disasters, which pose significant challenges to society.

“Geography serves as a bridge that integrates nature and technology in efforts to prevent natural disasters, as a realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs remind us that environmental sustainability, disaster prevention, and community empowerment are interconnected,” he explained.

Aziz added that this year’s conference invited experts, researchers, academics, and industry professionals to participate in discussions and present the research they have conducted.

“To all participants, I hope you can share your ideas and collaborate. Your contributions are essential to shaping the outcomes of this conference, and our future,” he expressed.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography UMS, Jumadi, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., warmly welcomed all participants and hoped the event would support sustainable development in the future.

“Welcome to all participants. This event is certainly a platform for exchanging ideas, building friendships, and committing to future development,” Jumadi greeted.
