To support internationalization and empower overseas partnerships, the Master of Physiotherapy program at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), organized a student mobility program at the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences (AMS), Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand. The program aims to enhance students’ clinical and research skills internationally.

The program included visits and hands-on learning in the AMS-KKU laboratory, presentations of research proposals, and visits to rehabilitation facilities in Khon Kaen, Thailand.

One of the participating students, Wisnu Prasetyo Adhi, shared that he and his peers gained valuable insights through the program, helping them on their journey to becoming competent physiotherapists. They had the opportunity to learn and demonstrate practical tools, such as the Biodex system and fitness assessments. They also visited rehabilitation centers for children with special needs and facilities for workers recovering from work-related injuries.

“This program enhances the competitiveness of UMS Physiotherapy Master’s graduates. Throughout the activities, we also realized that it opened up broader career opportunities for us,” added Wisnu during an interview on Sunday (1/9/2024).

During the program, 10 UMS Physiotherapy Master’s students presented their research proposals to professors, lecturers, staff, and international students at AMS KKU. Their presentations received positive feedback, with some professors expressing interest in potential research collaborations. They even offered to serve as supervisors if the UMS students chose to pursue doctoral studies at AMS-KKU.

Asst. Prof. Kurusart Konharn, Ph.D., Head of the Physiotherapy Program at AMS-KKU, expressed admiration for the enthusiasm and dedication of UMS Master of Physiotherapy students in their learning and research planning efforts.

“This is the first time the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences at Khon Kaen University has hosted a student mobility visit from Indonesia, specifically from the FIK UMS Physiotherapy Program. The enthusiasm of the participants was remarkable, especially during the research proposal presentations,” he concluded.
