FHIP UMS and Bennett University India Strengthen International Cooperation Through Visiting Lecturer Program

The Faculty of Law and Political Science (FHIP) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) expanded its international academic network through the Visiting Lecturer Outbound program with the School of Law, Bennett University, India. The activity took place on Friday (7/8/2026) at the School of Law, Bennett University.

The program featured four FHIP UMS lecturers as visiting instructors: Dr. Arief Budiono, S.H., M.H.; Dr. Rizka, S.Ag., M.H.; M. RM Fayasy Failaq, S.H., M.H.; and Dr. M. Junaidi, S.H., M.H. The lecturers delivered material in the field of law, including environmental law issues, while also engaging in discussion with Bennett University's academic community.

Activity Person-in-Charge, Dr. Rizka, S.Ag., M.H., explained that the program was carried out following a process of exploration, proposal submission, and intensive communication with Bennett University since July 2026.

"Bennett University's positive response shows that FHIP UMS has a great opportunity to build a global academic network. This activity marks the first step toward broader collaboration, whether in teaching, research, publication, or academic mobility," she explained on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

The activity served not only as a space for exchanging knowledge, but also as a means of introducing FHIP UMS's scholarly perspective and academic experience within an international forum.

"The discussions that took place gave lecturers and participants the opportunity to exchange views on legal developments, as well as the challenges of implementing them in different national contexts," she added.

The Visiting Lecturer Outbound program is also part of the effort by FHIP UMS and the School of Law, Bennett University, to strengthen institutional relations. This collaboration was built on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and the development of sustained academic cooperation.

The Dean of the School of Law, Bennett University, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kulshreshtha, welcomed the presence of the FHIP UMS delegation, as well as the opening of opportunities to develop cooperation between the two institutions.

"International academic collaboration allows lecturers and students to gain a broader perspective. We welcome this cooperation with FHIP UMS and hope this relationship can continue to grow through various academic activities in the future," he said.

Closing out the series of activities, the FHIP UMS delegation presented Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kulshreshtha with distinctly Indonesian souvenirs, a blangkon and a wayang puppet. The presentation served as a symbol of friendship, mutual respect, and cultural exchange between Indonesia and India.
