Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again showcased its international presence by participating in the QS Higher Education Summit: Asia Pacific 2025, held at Korea University, Seoul, from Tuesday to Thursday (4–6/11/2025). Attended by more than 1,500 delegates from various countries, the summit provided a valuable opportunity for UMS to expand partnerships and enhance its global engagement in higher education.

In addition, Dwi Linna Suswardany, S.K.M., M.P.H., a Public Health lecturer and Head of the Chronic Disease Research Center at UMS, was among the speakers at the international forum. She presented a paper titled “Frugal Innovation: From Financial Constraints to Universities with Impact.”

The opening ceremony was attended by prominent global figures, including Dong-One Kim, President of Korea University, and Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN).

Vice Rector I of UMS, Prof. Ihwan Susila, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., stated that UMS’s participation in the QS Summit 2025 marks an important milestone in expanding international partnerships.

“Throughout the QS Summit 2025, UMS has been able to establish broader collaborations with various strategic partners, including top global universities, research institutions, and QS partner companies. This aligns strongly with our mission to advance internationally oriented education at UMS,” said Prof. Ihwan on Wednesday (5/11/2025).

He further emphasized that UMS’s presence at the global academic forum reflects the university’s strong commitment to realizing its vision of becoming a “World Class University.” This goal, he explained, is pursued through the strengthening of international networks, collaborative research, and innovative educational initiatives at the global level.
