5 Stars for the Bachelor of Medicine Program

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has received an award from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) for achieving 5 stars in 7 out of 8 QS Stars Rating categories. The award was accepted by dr. Flora Ramona Sigit Prakoeswa, M.Kes., Sp.KK. representing UMS during the Gala Dinner QS Higher Education Summit: Asia Pacific 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia (7/11). QS is an institution that provides various services, analysis, and insights for the global higher education sector, including annual information on the world's best universities.

Excellent Rating

UMS has been awarded an 'Excellent' rating in seven categories following the completion of the audit process in the QS Stars Rating. The seven categories include:

  • Teaching: UMS is recognized for its excellent quality of teaching and learning, including teaching methods, qualifications of teaching staff, and interaction between lecturers and students
  • Employability: UMS is acknowledged for the high readiness of its graduates to enter the workforce, including career training programs, industry relations, and job placement rates for graduates.
  • Academic Development: UMS is commended for its commitment to academic development, including research, innovation, and support for the career development of teaching staff.
  • Facilities: UMS is praised for its adequate infrastructure and facilities on campus, such as libraries, laboratories, and sports facilities.
  • Specialist Criteria: UMS is recognized for its accreditation, certification, or recognition in specific fields, demonstrating excellence as an educational institution.
  • Social Responsibility: UMS is acknowledged for its contributions to society and the environment, including sustainability efforts, community service, and support for the local community.
  • Inclusiveness: UMS is commended for creating an inclusive and diverse environment, including admission policies, support for students with special needs, and the promotion of diversity.

Furthermore, UMS also received '3 Stars' in the internationalization category. This means that UMS has achieved an overall three-star rating.

5 Stars for the Bachelor of Medicine Program

In this moment of joy, QS has awarded '5 Stars' for UMS Bachelor of Medicine program. The program is considered to have international quality based on various sub-criteria, including graduation rate, employability of graduates, and the ratio of applicants.

UMS Medical Faculty Dean, Dr. Flora Ramona, expressed, "We are very grateful to have been entrusted with this award. This recognition will serve as both encouragement and a reminder for us to maintain and enhance UMS' presence on the global stage."
