Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again served as the host for a collaborative event bridging academia and industry. This time, UMS welcomed BRI Goes to Campus, held at the Moh. Djazman Auditorium, UMS Campus 1, on Thursday (6/11/2025).

The event was part of a nationwide BRI Goes to Campus program targeting 18 universities across Indonesia, particularly those located in cities that serve as home bases for Liga 1 football clubs. In attendance were Branch Office Head of BRI Kartasura Muhammad Nu’man and Manager of Corporate Share Value League BRI Super League Hanif Marjuni, along with several UMS leaders and students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).

Also present were representatives from the Sport Development Department (LPO) of Muhammadiyah Central Board, including Secretary Dr. Fajar Junaedi, S.Sos., M.Si., Deputy Treasurer Arini, S.Pd. Jas., and member Dr. Nur Subekti, S.Pd. Their attendance underscored the organization’s support for advancing sports potential and fostering synergy between Muhammadiyah universities and sports institutions.

Dean of the FKIP UMS, Prof. Dr. Anam Sutopo, S.Pd., M.Hum., delivered his remarks at the BRI Goes to Campus event held at the Moh. Djazman Auditorium on 6 September 2025.

Representing the Rector of UMS, Prof. Dr. Anam Sutopo, S.Pd., M.Hum expressed his appreciation for BRI’s presence on campus. In his speech, he stated that the event aligns with UMS’s spirit as a university continuously strengthening its academic and non-academic reputation both nationally and internationally.

“UMS currently has more than 45,000 students and is among the best Islamic universities in Indonesia. In fact, UMS once ranked among the world’s top three Islamic universities. We hope this event will not just be a one-time visit but will lead to tangible collaborations,” said Anam.

He added that FKIP UMS, particularly the Physical Education, remains committed to producing outstanding students capable of contributing across various fields, including the sports industry.

“We have a shared responsibility to help advance this nation, just as BRI plays a significant role in supporting the development of national sports,” he added.

Head of BRI Kartasura Branch, Muhammad Nu’man, emphasized that BRI’s involvement in sports reflects its strong commitment to the advancement of Indonesian football.

“BRI has been the main sponsor of BRI Liga 1 for five consecutive seasons. Football is not only the people’s sport, it’s also an economic sector with tremendous potential. Research shows that sports events can generate an economic turnover of up to Rp10.42 trillion,” explained Nu’man.

Branch Office Head of BRI Kartasura, Muhammad Nu’man, delivered his remarks during the BRI Goes to Campus event at the Moh. Djazman Auditorium, UMS.

Meanwhile, Manager of Corporate Share Value League BRI Super League, Hanif Marjuni, explained that BRI Goes to Campus aims to introduce students to the football industry ecosystem while broadening their perspectives on various career opportunities behind the scenes.

“Football has now become a major industry. Behind it are numerous professions to explore, such as media officer, marketing officer, medical officer, data analyst, and even VAR operator. These roles offer exciting career prospects for students from diverse academic backgrounds,” Hanif elaborated.

According to Hanif, UMS was chosen as one of the campuses for BRI Goes to Campus because of its strong reputation for excellence in both academic and non-academic achievements. “We recognize UMS as an outstanding institution, especially in the fields of sports and education. That became one of our main considerations,” he stated.

Responding to this, Dr. Eko Sudarmanto, M.Pd., Head of the Sport Education at FKIP UMS, expressed that the program provided significant benefits for students, particularly in gaining direct insight into the realities of the sports industry.

“We are currently developing a new curriculum, and input from industry players like this is extremely valuable. It helps our students understand how the sports system operates in practice, enabling them to become a strong support system for the advancement of national sports,” he explained.

He further emphasized that through this initiative, BRI and UMS are committed to continuing collaboration across education, industry, and sports sectors, to nurture a young generation ready to compete at both national and global levels.
