Held at the Moh. Djazman Auditorium on Monday (7/10/2024, attendees eagerly listened to discussions during the Ultimate Talk sharing session with the theme of “Interactive LPDP Day: Transformative Ideas in Action” event.
Hardika Dwi Hermawan, S.Pd., M.Sc., an LPDP awardee and lecturer in Informatics Engineering Education at UMS, expressed his delight at the students' enthusiasm. He noted that the participants were not only interested in learning how to qualify for the LPDP scholarship but also eager to contribute to the nation after receiving it.
“I’m very happy to see the participants' excitement. They aren’t just focused on how to pass the LPDP selection, but also on how they can give their best contribution after receiving this scholarship,” said Hardika.
During the Q&A session, Hardika shared several tips on passing the LPDP scholarship selection. He emphasized the importance of meeting the requirements, self-reflection to identify areas for improvement, and having strong commitment.
“Integrity and commitment are crucial. Show that what you write in the scholarship essay is something you will genuinely fight for, for the sake of Indonesia,” he advised. He hopes that more UMS students will receive LPDP scholarships and make a positive impact on both the university and society.
In the same event, UMS lecturer Dr. Rizka, S.Ag., M.Ag., highlighted the importance of proper self-profiling for students aiming to qualify for the LPDP scholarship. She pointed out that all students have potential, as long as they meet the set requirements, such as possessing academic papers, participating in training, and having English proficiency.
Rizka stressed the need for authentic essays, which should reflect the applicant’s true self and showcase their dedication to community service. “
“LPDP wants to know, after studying, what contribution you will make to Indonesia,” she added.
Rizka also warned students to be mindful of their social media behavior, explaining that hate speech, racism, and online attacks could negatively impact the LPDP selection process.
Even though LPDP has numerous requirements, Rizka clarified that academic factors like GPA or a cum laude status are not the only criteria. Activities outside academics and community service play a significant role in the selection process.
“Self-profiling and extracurricular activities leave a lasting impression,” she said.
Meanwhile, LPDP Scholarship Director, Ir. Dwi Larso, Ph.D., revealed that 45% of the LPDP quota is allocated for students pursuing studies abroad, while 65% is for those studying in Indonesia.
Dwi Larso encouraged students, “Never tire of loving Indonesia. Let’s give the best people in the best schools. The only way is to give the best for UMS, Muhammadiyah, and Indonesia.”
The event concluded with the signing of a MoU between IKA UMS and PT. Davehunt International Australia, followed by awards and mementos presented to LPDP, BPJS, and the Advisory Board of IKA UMS.
