Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again achieved national recognition by winning an award at the 2025 Student Creativity Program (PKM) Awards held on Sunday (26/10/2025).

The prestigious event, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdikstisaintek), acknowledges student teams that participated in the PKM Implementation Progress Assessment (PKP2).

During the ceremony hosted by Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), UMS earned the award for Second Cluster Higher Education Institution with the Most PKM Incentive Grants, with a total of five student teams receiving funding support.

UMS Rector, Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, M.Hum., expressed his gratitude and pride for the achievement. He said the award serves as a strong proof of UMS students’ active role in driving creativity and innovation.

“With this award, UMS further solidifies its track record in student innovation and creativity. We hope that the teams competing in PKM will continue advancing to PIMNAS and bring home medals,” he remarked.

Harun further noted that in addition to the five funded incentive teams, UMS also has 15 teams securing PKM funding, all of whom are expected to successfully progress to the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS).

“This achievement further reaffirms UMS commitment to encouraging students to excel through impactful research and creative innovation for society,” he emphasized.

In his remarks, the Director of Belmawa, Dr. Beny Bandanandjaja, S.T., M.T., stated that the implementation of PKM aims to foster, facilitate, and realize students’ creative and innovative ideas. He noted that the increasing enthusiasm among students and universities in submitting proposals is a positive sign for the future of Indonesian student research.

“As we know, PKM student groups that pass the proposal selection will receive funding to carry out their research from July to October,” he explained.

The event concluded with the PKM Award as a form of appreciation for the best-performing student teams. Those with the highest evaluation scores will later represent their respective universities at the 2025 PIMNAS, which will be hosted by Universitas Hasanuddin.
