Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again achieved a proud milestone on the national stage. At the CNN Indonesia Awards 2025, held at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta on Friday (31/10/2025), UMS received the prestigious award in the category of “Outstanding Indonesia’s Islamic Higher Education.”

This award was presented to UMS in recognition of its exceptional contribution to integrating Islamic values with innovation in research and higher education. As a religious yet progressive Islamic university, UMS has demonstrated that faith-based education can harmonize with academic excellence and global competitiveness.

CNN Indonesia’s President Director, Titin Rosmasari, in her remarks stated that this award serves as a form of appreciation for national change-makers from various sectors who continue to ignite the spirit of innovation and lead Indonesia toward a more advanced future.

“Since its inception, the CNN Indonesia Awards has been a platform to honor those who inspire Indonesia, from the center to the most remote regions. This year, our awards are dedicated to national contributors who embody the spirit of ‘Collaboration & Harmony in Pursuit of the Nation’s Aspirations,’” Titin said.

UMS Rector, Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, M.Hum., expressed that this recognition is proof of UMS consistent efforts in developing world-class Islamic education.

“CNN’s appreciation represents three things at once. First, recognition of UMS as Indonesia’s best Islamic university. Second, UMS’s strengthening position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. Third, the growing trust of the international community in UMS,” Harun explained.

Furthermore, Harun added that UMS currently enjoys a high level of international public trust, with more than 8,700 foreign student applicants and a continuously expanding global academic network.

“UMS is a university that never stops innovating, making real contributions, and creating meaningful impact for society. We want UMS to keep ‘running together’ not just running fast alone, but running far alongside every element of the community for the advancement of global Islamic education. Embracing inwardly, stepping outward, and collaborating together. Always innovating without end, always becoming a pioneer of khutwah (change),” he emphasized.

With its vision of becoming a world-class Islamic university for all, UMS remains committed to producing graduates who excel in knowledge, possess strong character, and uphold a spirit of service.

“This award from CNN Indonesia further solidifies UMS position as an Islamic university capable of competing both nationally and internationally,” he affirmed.
