Hizbul Wathan (HW) Kafilah Penuntun Moh. Djazman of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) successfully held its advanced training and instructor training from May 10–17, 2025, in Karanganyar, Central Java.

The training took place at three locations: the Lawu Forest Area, Bandar Dawung Cliff, and Mulur Reservoir in Karanganyar. These sites were chosen to support the educational process and character development of HW UMS cadres into resilient, independent individuals with high integrity.

HW UMS Public Relations officer, Hilmi Arif Syauqi, stated that the three locations provided spiritual, physical, and mental experiences for the participants. He also mentioned that a total of 38 participants took part in the training.

“This event was attended by 38 participants, consisting of 19 from the advanced training and 19 from the instructor training, all selected from the best HW UMS cadres,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (22/5/2025).

Participants in advanced training and instructor training are practicing water rescue at Mulur Reservoir, Karanganyar, Central Java, Friday, May 16, 2025.

The training activities focused on hands-on exploration of material previously taught in class. Among the activities were Emergency Search and Rescue (E-SAR), rescue operations on vertical terrains, and water rescue exercises.

“The goal is to deepen previously learned skills while also encouraging HW UMS cadres to explore new knowledge they haven't acquired before,” explained Hilmi.

The experience left a lasting impression on participants. One of them, Ayunda Najwa, a student of the Elementary Teacher Education program, expressed her pride in completing the training successfully.

“Alhamdulillah, I was able to complete this advanced training. I explored a lot of knowledge, especially in forest and water-based environments,” she said.

Najwa described the training as a proud moment, as she got to grow alongside her fellow HW UMS cadres. “I hope this movement continues to grow stronger and last longer,” she added.
