Requirements for Rector Candidates
General Requirements
- Devout in worship and practicing Islamic teachings.
- Loyal to the fundamental principles of Muhammadiyah’s struggle.
- A role model within Muhammadiyah.
- Adheres to the policies outlined by the Muhammadiyah Central Board.
- Possesses the experience, competence, and ability to carry out responsibilities effectively.
- Committed to advancing Muhammadiyah-affiliated institutions of higher learning and dedicated to developing the organization.
- Has been a member of Muhammadiyah for at least five (5) years.
- Does not hold concurrent positions in political organizations or other organizations with similar activities to Muhammadiyah at any level.
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge and academic experience.
- Physically and mentally healthy
Specific Requirements
- Must be a permanent lecturer at UMS and hold a Doctoral degree with the academic title of Professor or a doctoral degree with the academic title of Associate Professor.
- Maximum age of 66 years for Professors and 61 years for Associate Professors as of April 23, 2025.
- Has a minimum of 4 years of experience as a structural officer, at least at the level of Head of Study Program.
Administrative Requirements
- Photocopy of Identity Card (KTP).
- Photocopy of Muhammadiyah Membership Card.
- Certificate of physical and mental health from a doctor.
- Curriculum Vitae, maximum of 3 pages, A4 size.
- Essay outlining the candidate’s motivation for becoming the Rector, as well as their strategic vision and work program for UMS over the next 4 years based on UMS vision and mission.
- A short video introduction describing their vision, mission, and priority programs if appointed as Rector of UMS, with a maximum duration of 2 minutes.
- Statement letter (download template) containing willingness to become Candidate for UMS Rector 2025-2029
Paper Requirements
The paper required as part of the administrative requirements must contain the following elements at a minimum:
a. Integrity, credibility, commitment, and leadership for UMS demonstrated by:
- The ability to lead and manage in the field of higher education, as well as the capacity to implement good university governance
- Commitment to applying the philosophical foundations, core values of UMS, and the foundational principles of UMS's educational development;
- Personal maturity, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
b. Strategic Plan of UMS and Its Work Program for the Next Four Years Based on UMS Vision and Mission, Including:
- The ability to realize the vision and mission of UMS
- Innovative insights and creativity for developing the potential of UMS
- Capability to uphold UMS's autonomy and academic freedom in accordance with UMS statutes
- Ability to expand national and international networks extensively
- Capacity to mobilize funds for the development of UMS.
The paper must take into account the list of issues of UMS attached to the UMS Senate Regulations regarding the Election of the Rector for the 2025–2029 term and shall be an inseparable part of these regulations.
