Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) is consistently expanding its international contribution in developing Muhammadiyah-based philanthropic organizations. Through the Community Service – International Partnership Program (PKM-KI), UMS carried out an initiative titled “Strengthening Fundraising Capacity and Organizational Digitalization of LazisMu Turkiye Based on Muhammadiyah Values.”

The program is led by Prof. Dr. Muzakar Isa, S.E., M.Si., CSBA., CIPE., together with a team consisting of Dr. Aflit Nuryulia Praswati, S.E., M.M.; Nurul Latifatul Inayati, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I.; Ahmada Auliya Rahman, S.E.; and Rahmatdi, S.E., M.Acc.  The partner for this initiative is LazisMu Turkiye, an organization overseeing philanthropic and humanitarian activities for the Indonesian diaspora in Istanbul and surrounding areas. The program also collaborates with LazisMu Central Java.

Muzakar Isa explained that the need to strengthen fundraising strategies and optimize digital platforms formed the basis for this program. “LazisMu Turkiye holds an important role in empowering the diaspora. Therefore, it requires more systematic and professional strategies for resource mobilization and digital governance,” he stated, Thursday (4/12/2025).

The program has been running from June to October 2025 with various agendas, including thematic webinars, focus group discussions, and mentoring sessions for developing the organization’s website. Speakers were invited from UMS, LazisMu Central Java, and the Yedihilal Turkiye Waqf Organization, providing international perspectives on the governance of zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf (ZISWAF).

Representatives of LazisMu Turkiye expressed their appreciation for the assistance, as it provided practical insights into managing ZISWAF at the diaspora level. In addition, the program has encouraged greater transparency and professionalism within the institution through service digitalization and public education.

Through this initiative, the community service team hopes to strengthen LazisMu Turkiye’s capacity in fundraising and digital system management. “The ultimate goal is to broaden sustainable benefits for the Indonesian diaspora community in Turkiye,” explained the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UMS.
