Another proud achievement has been recorded by students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) on the international stage. Five UMS teams won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEX) Thailand 2026, held on 5–9 January 2026 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC).

The prestigious event was organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under the Ministry of Research of Thailand and was attended by hundreds of innovators from various countries.

UMS Vice Rector I Prof. Ihwan Susila, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., expressed his pride in the achievements of UMS students at the international event. According to him, this accomplishment is part of UMS’s broader strategy toward becoming a world-class university by 2029.

“We continue to encourage student affairs so that achievements are not only at the national level, but also at the international level. This also has a positive correlation with faculty supervision, whether in research, publications, or international competitions,” Ihwan said when interviewed on Wednesday (13/1/2026).

He added that UMS’s participation in IPITEX Thailand is a strategic and routine agenda. “This event is supported by many industries and serves as a major platform for international student competition. We want to showcase UMS’s potential through the various innovative prototypes on display. Hopefully, UMS’s reputation in the eyes of the world will continue to grow,” he concluded.

The Director of the Directorate of Student Affairs and Innovation Talent Development (DKPTI) of UMS, Ir. Ahmad Kholid Alghofari, S.T., M.T., expressed his pride in the achievement. According to him, the success of the five UMS teams affirms the effectiveness of talent development, cross-faculty collaboration, and the spirit of student innovation that is able to compete at the international level.

“Special recognitions such as the Canadian Special Award of Excellence show that the ideas of UMS students are not only technically excellent, but also globally relevant and applicable,” he said.

He hopes that this achievement will serve as a trigger to motivate students to continue producing innovative works and to inspire other students. “Continue to develop creativity and innovation so as to further bring honor to UMS as an Islamic, enlightening, excellent, world-class, and sustainable university,” he added.

“This achievement aims to increase the number of international academic accomplishments and to expand opportunities for UMS students to gain global exposure, including living and competing abroad,” he explained.

The achievements of the five UMS teams at IPITEX Thailand 2026 are as follows:
