Two students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) are participating in a student exchange program in South Korea at Kongju National University (KNU). The exchange takes place from March to June 2025, during the spring season.
The UMS students joining the program are from the International Class of the Management Program. They are Jovita Najwa Khumaira and Ilham Fauzan Shandy.
At Kongju National University, most classes are conducted in English, allowing international students to follow the lessons effectively. Similarly, the international class at UMS also uses English as the primary language of instruction.
“There are currently around 15 Indonesian students studying at KNU. They are very friendly and supportive. Studying and living in Korea has been a truly valuable experience,” said Najwa on Thursday (17/4/2025).

UMS students recently took part in joint activities with other students at Kongju National University.
Through this exchange program, Najwa shared that she has gained valuable insights into different cultures, expanding both her worldview and perspective. She highly recommends taking part in overseas exchange programs like this one.
“It broadens your horizons, gives you international experience, and you get to travel too. Studying abroad isn't just fun, it’s also a great asset for the future,” Ilham added.
Ilham also noted that student exchange programs offer more than just academic learning, they also provide life lessons and exposure to global cultures.
Information about overseas exchange opportunities is usually announced through the official Instagram account of the Office of Collaboration and International Affairs
(BKUI) @io.ums.official or via their official website. Students enrolled in international classes are offered various facilities and advantages.
Students who join the international class at UMS gain access to a multicultural learning environment alongside peers from various countries, as well as opportunities for student exchange programs.
They also have the option to stay at the KH. Mas Mansur Student Islamic Boarding School International Dormitory. In addition, students receive mentoring support to improve their English and Korean language skills, along with various other exclusive benefits.
