Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) continues to strengthen its strategic synergy with national institutions. Most recently, UMS welcomed a visit from the Bank Indonesia (BI) Solo delegation on Thursday (15/5/2025)
The delegation was led by Head of Bank Indonesia Solo Representative Office, Dwiyanto Cahyo Sumirat, accompanied by Head of Public Relations, Condro Nugroho Permono Adi, and Head of the Regional Economic and Financial Development Team (KEKDA), Hesti Candra Sari. The meeting covered several key topics, including strengthening the Halal Center, scholarship programs, and the integration of central banking education on campus.
“We’re exploring deeper collaboration with UMS, especially in strengthening the Halal Center, from training halal auditors and supporting halal product development to promoting halal slaughtering practices and central banking literacy,” said Dwiyanto after meeting with the UMS Rector.
Head of KEKDA, Hesti Candra Sari, added that in July, Bank Indonesia (BI) Solo will facilitate a halal auditor certification program for members of the UMS Halal Center.
In addition, BI Solo will assign professional staff as visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UMS. They will teach topics such as monetary policy, payment systems, and financial system stability.
“We aim to develop human resources who not only hold certifications but are also ready to assist both Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and large companies in obtaining halal certification. This teaching initiative will bridge theory and real-world application of central banking functions,” said Hesti Candra Sari.

The visit, which took place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, was attended by BI Solo Representative Head Dwiyanto Cahyo Sumirat (left) and KEKDA Head Candra Sari (right).
UMS Rector, Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, M.Hum, warmly welcomed the initiative. He emphasized that this collaboration proves how higher education institutions and state bodies can work hand in hand to produce top-tier human capital. Harun also expressed hope that the BI scholarship program could be further developed by assessing the long-term impact of the recipients’ skill sets.
“We are grateful to BI for its continued commitment, particularly through the scholarship program, which has truly benefited our students. We hope to occasionally evaluate the real impact of this scholarship on students’ abilities and personal development,” he added
In another initiative, BI Solo facilitated halal slaughter (juleha) training for five UMS representatives sent to Semarang. This effort is part of a broader commitment to creating sustainable information hubs and supporting ecosystems for halal certification.
On top of that, BI Solo supports human resource development through certified digital marketing training endorsed by the National Professional Certification Board, (BNSP) and the strengthening of UMS HR training center.
The collaboration between UMS and BI Solo represents a concrete step toward building a grassroots economy based on globally competitive and high-quality human resources. Center for Standardization of Pharmaceutical Extracts
(SEFA), Halal Center, central banking education, and support for halal-certified MSMEs form the foundation of their shared agenda.
“We hope to enhance and refine the scholarship program so that it can more effectively support the development of high-caliber, competitive human resources for both domestic and global markets,” Dwiyanto concluded.
