Students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again demonstrated a tangible contribution to community service through the Village Teaching Service Program carried out in Ngemplak Village, Karanganyar Regency. The activity, which took place for seven days from 23 to 30 January 2026, was centered at SD Negeri 03 Ngemplak.

This program was initiated by Hian Risnandar, a student of the Geography Study Program, Faculty of Geography UMS, who served as a Young Mentor. Through the Village Teaching Movement, Hian, together with Inspirational Tutors, sought to support the learning process in elementary schools while improving the quality of education through direct learning assistance.

During the program implementation, students from various universities across Indonesia were actively involved as Inspirational Tutors. They accompanied classroom teaching and learning activities, assisted teachers in delivering learning materials, and provided reinforcement in literacy, numeracy, and thematic learning.

All of them played an active role in creating an enjoyable learning environment and supporting students’ academic development.

Hian explained that the Village Teaching Program is not only oriented toward improving students’ academic abilities, but also emphasizes character building, self-confidence, and learning motivation.

“Through direct assistance in schools, Inspirational Tutors are able to understand the real conditions of the learning process and provide contributions that are more relevant to students,” he said.

Overall, the Village Teaching Service activities at SDN 03 Ngemplak ran smoothly and received a positive response from the school.

This program is expected to generate a sustainable impact on improving the quality of education in Ngemplak Village, while also serving as a platform for developing social competence, leadership, and teamwork skills among the participating students.
