Representatives from BUI, Uzbekistan, visited UMS on Tuesday (24/12/2024), at the Rectorate Meeting Room in the Siti Walidah Main Building.
During the meeting, UMS Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Research, Community Service, Publication, and Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI), Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, M.Hum., stated that UMS is prepared to collaborate with BUI to support the development of its health faculty. However, he emphasized that preliminary collaboration efforts must be established before advancing to this stage.
“We are ready to assist in developing the health faculty at Bukhara University of Innovation. However, this will begin with joint research and publications,” stated Harun

The collaboration extends beyond research and publication. Head of the Office of Collaboration and International Affairs (BKUI) at UMS, Andy Dwi Bayu Bawono, mentioned that UMS, together with Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), plans to establish joint classes at Bukhara University of Innovation (BUI).
“In Uzbekistan, English proficiency is still limited, so they need lecturers who can teach in English,” Andy explained.
He further elaborated that BUI intends to launch international classes with English as the medium of instruction. This collaboration represents the support of UMS and UMY in enhancing the quality of education at BUI.

When asked about long-term plans, Andy mentioned that BUI intends to establish a faculty focused on health sciences. The faculty will integrate programs in medicine and health sciences.
“The focus is on developing a health-oriented faculty with English as the medium of instruction,” he added.
The Rector of Bukhara University of Innovation, Prof. Dr. Roziyeva Dilnoz Isomjonovna, expressed interest in collaborating with UMS due to its reputation as a prestigious university with excellent health-related academic programs in Indonesia.
“We want to establish a faculty of health sciences and need educators capable of teaching in English,” stated Roziyeva.

Roziyeva admitted that universities in Uzbekistan lack the opportunities and prestige of institutions like UMS and other campuses in Indonesia. She emphasized the importance of collaboration to improve the quality of health education in Uzbekistan.
Rector Roziyeva views Muhammadiyah as an organization with an extensive network of health laboratories and a significant number of health programs across Indonesia. It is no surprise that BUI has chosen to collaborate with UMS and UMY to develop their health faculties.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to learn about health education at Muhammadiyah universities,” said the BUI Rector.
