Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again held an Open Senate Session to inaugurate five new professors at the Edutorium K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, Thursday (28/8/2025).
The General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Board (PP Muhammadiyah), Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si., delivered a keynote address at the ceremony. He emphasized that the title of professor is not merely the highest academic rank, but also carries a profound moral and social responsibility as a teacher of life.

He further expressed hope that the addition of these professors will strengthen UMS position as a center of academic excellence, research, community engagement, and the advancement of Progressive Islam.
“An academic title is not just a badge of honor, but a mandate to nurture future generations who are faithful, knowledgeable, of noble character, and capable of driving transformation toward a better civilization,” he stressed.
On this occasion, UMS Vice Rector I, Prof. Ihwan Susila, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., expressed gratitude and pride for the increase in the number of professors at UMS.
“This morning, Allah SWT has blessed us with five new professors in the fields of economics, engineering, health, and education. This is not only a source of joy for UMS, but also a pride for Central Java and for Indonesia. Professors are the pillars of knowledge development and higher education,” Ihwan remarked.
Prof. Ihwan emphasized that this achievement is not only a motivation for UMS lecturers to continuously advance their academic careers, but also a new source of energy for the university as it strides toward Indonesia Emas 2045..
He also extended appreciation to the families of the newly inaugurated professors who have supported their long academic journey to attain the highest scholarly rank
The Head of LLDIKTI Region VI Central Java, Prof. Dr. Ir. Aisyah Endah Palupi, M.Pd., also delivered congratulations along with an important message. According to her, this inauguration is not the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of establishing a strong foothold in each professor’s respective field.
“This is the starting point to encourage the academic community, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, to align their research more closely with the expertise of these professors. We note that UMS now has 55 active professors. Our task is to continue guiding and ensuring that more UMS doctoral graduates are prepared to advance to professorship,” she explained.
Prof. Aisyah further stressed the urgency of accelerating applications for academic promotion before new regulations tighten the requirements in 2026. She expressed hope that UMS would continue to increase its number of professors in the years ahead.

- Prof. Muhammad Mujiburohman, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. - Professor of Separation Technology
- Prof. Muhammad Sholahuddin, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D. - Professor of Accounting and Business Analysis
- Prof. Dr. Yuli Kusumawati, SKM., M.Kes. - Professor of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science
- Prof. Dr. Minsih, S.Ag, M.Pd. - Professor of Inclusive Education
- Prof. Ir. Herry Purnama, M.T., Ph.D. - Professor of Clean Technology and Waste Processing
