The SDGs Center of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) received a visit from the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (Bapperida) of Pekalongan Regency for the purpose of exploration and consultation in drafting a Regional Action Plan (RAD). The visit took place at the BPH Meeting Room, Siti Walidah Main Building, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Under current regulations, the preparation of a RAD related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires consultation with an SDGs Center housed within a university.

"We have already visited colleagues at Perhutani, Telkom, PLN, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and BPJS Kesehatan. In addition, Bapperida Pekalongan Regency has also visited several campuses in Pekalongan, but none of them have an SDGs Center," said Rokhmawan.

Rokhmawan explained that he came to UMS's SDGs Center on the recommendation of the Central Java regional government, as no campus in the Pekalongan area currently has an SDGs Center.

"We hope to receive suggestions and guidance from UMS on how to move forward," he said.

UMS SDGs Center Coordinator Rama Rizana, S.T., M.Sc. welcomed the Pekalongan Bapperida delegation warmly. He was joined by a representative from the Center for Economic Development.

"In general, we are still growing, still in the process, still learning. That includes being very glad to receive visits from regional governments, including Bapperida Pekalongan Regency. Because in terms of SDGs broadly, or what is known as TPB, much of what we have adopted comes from the methodology used in global university rankings," Rama said.

Rama noted that during the visit, the UMS team provided an overview of the schemes and metrics used in drafting budgets based on the 17 SDG indicators.

"Then also in the budgeting process, each SDG and its derivatives, indicators, and all manner of activities supporting their achievement need to be addressed. That part is still being brainstormed, all the way through to the processes that will eventually produce the RAD," Rama explained.

Rama added that there is a possibility the visit will result in a formal cooperation agreement once the Bapperida delegation reports back to their leadership.
