Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again served as a reference point for studying best practices in campus institutional management. This time, Universitas Ciputra Surabaya and STKIP Modern Ngawi visited UMS on Monday (26/5/2025).

The delegations from both campuses were warmly welcomed by UMS. On this occasion, UMS Vice-Rector IV, Prof. Dr. Em Sutrisna, M.Kes., greeted the visitors with a few opening remarks.

Em admitted that UMS has a rather large organizational structure. This, he explained, is due to the desire to focus on targets, which has led to the creation of various offices or institutions. He also briefly introduced the offices within the UMS structure.

“I believe this is a benchmarking session where we learn from each other, as the principle is simple: the strong have weaknesses, but the weak also have strengths,” Em remarked.

He expressed hope that this activity would bring mutual benefits to all parties involved.

The Head of the Teaching and Learning Center at Universitas Ciputra, Dr. Benny Irawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that this opportunity was very enjoyable. He and his delegation were also happy to learn from UMS.

“When we made the trip here, we aimed to ‘shop for innovations’ that we could later apply at Universitas Ciputra,” Benny said, conveying a message from the vice-rector of Universitas Ciputra.

His group hoped that they could engage in discussions, exchange ideas, and share positive practices with each other.

The Vice-Chair 3 of STKIP Modern Ngawi, Army Al Islami Ali Putra, M.Pd., also expressed gratitude to UMS for opening its doors and allowing them to learn from such an established campus.

Army mentioned that their institution is still in its infancy, being only about 10 years old.

“So it is very necessary for us to learn from UMS, because we see that this is such a large and well-established campus, and we need to learn directly from the best,” said Army.

At present, their goal is to evolve beyond being just a higher education institute and strive to become an institution like UMS.
