Exciting news emerged from the 2024 Anugerah Diktisaintek event held at Graha Diktisaintek, Jakarta, on Friday (13/12/2024). The official website of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) achieved the Gold Winner in the category of private university websites.

Anugerah Diktisaintek 2024 is an award event initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Technology. The award is given to higher education stakeholders who have achieved the highest accomplishments and contributed to supporting the implementation of higher education transformation over the past year.

The awards encompass 11 categories, including national priority awards; program support partners for Diktisaintek; learning and student affairs; research, technology, and community service; resources; institutional development; higher education database; integrity zones; public relations; collaborations; and journalism.

With this achievement, UMS successfully secured two Gold Winner awards. The other recognition was the national priority award, won by UMS Geography lecturer Umar El Izzudin Kiat, S.Si., M.P., W.K.

Head of the Office of Public Relation and Rankings (BHP) at UMS, Gunawan Ariyanto, S.T., M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., said the award reflects UMS commitment to creating a user-friendly information platform.

“Hopefully, this award will be a blessing and further strengthen UMS reputation at the national level,” Gunawan said when contacted via WhatsApp on Friday (13/12/2024).

According to Gunawan, the biggest challenge in managing the website lies in maintaining and improving the quality of its content. He noted that the web team under BHP UMS has a clear vision, mission, and commitment to developing the UMS website.

“Various features and content we have introduced have proven to receive positive responses from visitors. Additionally, the structured organization of content has been well-executed, and teamwork has been the key to our success in overcoming these challenges,” he added.

Gunawan expressed his hope that the UMS web team would continue to improve both the quality and quantity of content on the UMS website. Several strategies will be implemented, including utilizing user traffic analytics tools.

“We will also continue to use analytics tools to monitor visits and user interactions optimally, ensuring that the information presented remains relevant, useful, and capable of attracting more visitors to the UMS website,” he said optimistically.

UMS Web Content Manager, Al Habiib Josy Asheva, stated that UMS began transforming its website at the end of 2022. This transformation coincided with the 48th Muhammadiyah Congress held in Surakarta.

At that time, UMS aimed to present a new face for its official website. Several performance targets were outlined, including updating the visual design, enhancing user experience, and reorganizing content.

“The UMS website breaks away from the rigidity often found on many university websites in Indonesia. With a flexible approach and a modern touch, the UMS website has become an easily understandable and user-friendly information platform,” said Sheva, as he is affectionately known.

To this day, content restructuring continues, featuring comprehensive materials that highlight the academic wealth and achievements of UMS academic community. This rich content serves as both a key and an effort to introduce UMS through a contemporary, modern, and insightful approach
