The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) officially launched a water station facility on Monday (27/4/2026) at the Hall of Building H. The initiative marks a concrete step in reinforcing UMS's commitment as an environmentally friendly campus, as well as an effort to reduce single-use plastic consumption in the academic environment.

The launch was attended by UMS Rector Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, M.Hum., the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (FT), and a range of university leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, and students. The presence of senior university leadership underscored full institutional support for embedding a culture of sustainability on campus.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Ir. Mochamad Solikin, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. stated that the program aligns with the faculty's vision of developing systems that are smart, integrated, and sustainable.

"The presence of this facility is expected to encourage awareness among the academic community, particularly students, to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle in their daily lives," he said on Saturday (2/5/2026).

In his remarks, the UMS Rector affirmed that the provision of water stations is part of the institution's efforts to create a clean and sustainable campus environment.

"Today, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Economics and Business at UMS are launching the water station facility. This effort is one of our steps toward creating a campus that is clean and environmentally friendly. We hope this facility will be well maintained and put to the best possible use," Harun said.

The event concluded smoothly with a direct inspection of the water station facility by invited guests. Participants showed strong enthusiasm through their active support for the program. On the occasion, guests also received drinking bottles and voucher cards that can be used to access the water station facility.

The facility is now available at several strategic locations: the Hall of Building H on the first floor, Building F, and the east side of Building J on the first floor. Through this facility, the Faculty of Engineering at UMS hopes to serve as a pioneer in realizing a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable campus environment.
