Are Homosexuals More at Risk of STIs?

The presence of homosexual communities in public spaces has raised concerns among some people. Increasing the risk of STI including HIV and various other sexually transmitted infections.
The Industrial Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), received an award at the 2024 Industrial Engineering Awards organized by the Indonesian Engineers Association's Industrial Engineering Body. The event took place at Soehanna Hall, The Energy Building, SCBD, South Jakarta.
The awards ceremony was officially opened by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ir. Airlangga Hartarto, M.B.A., M.M.T., IPU. The event, themed “Innovative Engineering for Sustainable Development in Shaping the Future of Indonesia,” was attended by prominent figures from the fields of industrial engineering, academia, and industry practitioners.
This theme focused on the importance of engineering innovation for sustainable development to shape Indonesia’s future in line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
The UMS Industrial Engineering Program, represented by Dr. Ir. Etika Muslimah, M.T., M.M., received the award for successfully obtaining accreditation from the Indonesia Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE).
“This award is recognition of the quality of education provided by UMS Industrial Engineering Program, which continually strives to meet international standards. Not only are our graduates globally competitive, but the quality of educational services provided to students is also top-notch,” she said on Wednesday (2/10/2024).
She further explained that the award, presented on Friday (27/9/2024), serves as proof of the dedication and commitment of the winners in advancing higher education and the engineering industry in Indonesia. She also revealed that the nomination selection process took more than five months with rigorous screening.
the Dean of the UMS Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Rois Fatoni, Ph.D., expressed his gratitude and pride for the achievements of the UMS Industrial Engineering Program. He emphasized that this accomplishment would serve as a reminder for UMS to continue innovating and providing the best services in higher education, especially within the Industrial Engineering program.
