A new set of global academic collaboration opportunities has opened through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) and the School of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) Bangladesh, as well as the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Cooperation at the UMS Faculty of Pharmacy, apt. Peni Indrayudha, Ph.D., explained that the collaboration opportunities cover the development of various international activities, including student and lecturer exchange, research collaboration, joint scientific publications, the organization of international seminars and conferences, and the development of community service programs with broad impact for communities in both countries.

"The signing of this MoU is hoped to serve as a foundation for various mutually beneficial cooperation programs, particularly in the fields of education, research, and community service," he said when contacted on Thursday (25/6/2026).

Peni noted that this cooperation is part of the UMS Faculty of Pharmacy's efforts to improve educational quality and expand international exposure for the academic community.

"Through this partnership, students and lecturers are hoped to gain broader opportunities to interact, learn, and collaborate with international partners," Peni said optimistically.

Peni explained that the MoU signing took place on Monday (22/6/2026). The event was attended by Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs and Research at the UMS Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. apt. Arifah Sri Wahyuni, M.Sc., and Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Cooperation, apt. Peni Indrayudha, Ph.D.

The Bangladeshi delegation present at the occasion included Professor and Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific, Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Dhaka, Prof. Dr. Md. Selim Reza.

The Bangladeshi delegates expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the UMS Faculty of Pharmacy. They are optimistic that the cooperation established will produce various collaborative programs capable of making a real contribution to the development of pharmaceutical science and healthcare at both the regional and global level.

Through the signing of this MoU, the UMS Faculty of Pharmacy further affirms its commitment to becoming a leading pharmacy education institution with global competitiveness, actively building international collaboration networks to support the enhancement of the quality of the three pillars of higher education.
