FKIP Shines with Six-Medal Triumph at National Event

The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has once again recorded a proud achievement on the national stage. This time, students of the Physical Education Department successfully brought home six medals from three prestigious national sports competitions held in Aceh and Bali.

Dean of FKIP UMS, Prof. Dr. Anam Sutopo, M.Hum., expressed his gratitude and pride for this outstanding accomplishment. According to him, the success of FKIP students is concrete proof that UMS not only excels in academics but also consistently supports students in developing their potential in non-academic fields, particularly sports.

“This is FKIP’s gift for our beloved university. This achievement is a special present in October, coinciding with UMS’ 67th Milad,” said Anam proudly, Wednesday, (22/10/2025).

These achievements were secured by three FKIP UMS students: Tasya Alicia Soekarno Putri, Kirana Tyas Safira, and Hanun Nayla Husna, each earning medals in different sports categories. Tasya Alicia won a silver medal in the Junior Women’s Individual Foil and a bronze medal in the Senior Women’s Foil at the National Fencing Championship in Aceh.

Meanwhile, Kirana Tyas Safira, a Physical Education student at FKIP UMS, successfully secured a gold medal at the 2025 National Sports Week (PON) Martial Arts in the Women’s E Match category (65–70 kg).

Equally impressive, Hanun Nayla Husna, a 2025 Physical Education student, also succeeded in earning three medals at the National Archery Championship held in Denpasar, Bali on 17–25 Oktober 2025. This achievement further reinforces the dominance of FKIP UMS students in national sports.

Anam stated that the total of six medals collected by FKIP students is a true gift for UMS at its 67th anniversary. “We dedicate these six medals as a Milad gift for the Rector and the entire academic community. FKIP will continue its commitment to being a powerhouse of achievements, both academic and non-academic,” he emphasized.

Closing his remarks, Anam reiterated that FKIP UMS will continue to support the emergence of new outstanding talents. “We hope in the future more Tasya, Hanun, and Kirana will rise. FKIP UMS will only grow stronger in providing real support for the university and the nation,” he concluded.In line with that, the Head of the Physical Education Department at FKIP UMS, Dr. Eko Sudarmanto, S.Pd., M.Or., expressed appreciation for the hard work of the students and all parties involved. He emphasized that this success is the result of collaboration between students, coaches, sports branch management, and the university.

“This achievement is not solely the result of the students’ hard work, but the fruit of synergy among various parties. Strong cooperation between sports stakeholders is the main foundation behind this remarkable accomplishment,” explained Eko.

He hopes the achievement can boost the enthusiasm of other students. “Let this victory be a stepping stone to move further, maintain spirit and integrity, and inspire fellow students to also bring pride to the institution,” he added.

UMS martial arts athlete Kirana mentioned that the championship she participated in was not only about winning, but also about fighting spirit and sportsmanship. “Every match teaches the meaning of hard work and respecting opponents. The atmosphere was full of togetherness, and I’m proud to represent UMS,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Head Coach of UMS Pencak Silat, Dr. Nur Subekti, S.Pd., M.Or., highlighted the consistent performance of Kirana Tyas Safira, who managed to maintain her achievement after previously winning the National Student Sports Week (POMNAS). “In less than two weeks, Kirana once again delivered a gold medal in a different category. This shows extraordinary physical and mental quality,” he said.

Nur Subekti added that the training facilities provided by UMS also play an important role in student achievements. “The Physical Education study program now has a Sport and Martial Art Center which serves as a hub for the development of martial arts, especially Tapak Suci. We hope achievements like this will continue up to the 2028 PON in NTT and NTB,” he explained.
