Building the Strength of the Community

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) held a Tablig Akbar event on Sunday, September 24, 2023. The event titled “Muslim Milenial Bertaut Masjid, Keluarga Tangguh Berbingkai Jamaah" featured Ustaz Dr. Adi Hidayat, Lc., M.A., a well-known Islamic preacher and scholar. The event, which was held at the Gedung Edutorium K.H. Ahmad Dahlan UMS, was also live-streamed on the tvMu Youtube Channel.

Building the Strength of the Community

In his tausiyah, Ustaz Adi Hidayat explained the transformation of da'wah that has been carried out by Muhammadiyah in several ways. First, da'wah through speech or tabligh (bil lisan), such as sermons, lectures, and public talks. Second, da'wah through writing (bil qolam), such as in the Muhammadiyah magazine Suara Muhammadiyah and other publications. Third, da'wah through action (bil bunyan), such as through the establishment of schools, hospitals, and other social services.

"In a hadith narrated by Ibn Majah, it is mentioned that the Prophet wanted to hijra from Mecca to Yathrib (Medina). However, he faced a challenging situation in Medina, where the community was divided and had been in conflict for 120 years," he clarified.

Imagine a city torn apart by 120 years of conflict. But then, the Prophet Muhammad arrived. His arrival was nothing short of divine intervention, he was guided by Allah to transform Yathrib into a more enlightened city. The Prophet Muhammad used two strategies to achieve this goal. First, he sowed the seed of unity. Nurturing the strength of the fractured community. Second, the Prophet Muhammad provided selfless assistance as needed. Offering not just material aid, but a glimmer of hope to the destitute souls of Yathrib.

Ustaz Adi Hidayat also highlighted the transformative power the Prophet had in the city of Medina. "Indeed, many people have mentioned that Medina is a place known for its honest and remarkable individuals, and it's even considered a city with a stable economic market," added Ustaz Adi Hidayat.

Reflecting on the Prophet's initial strategy, Ustaz Adi Hidayat also envisions the mosque not merely as a place for religious worship, but as the beating heart of a muslim community. Its influence should extend far beyond the local sphere to unite ummah in purpose and spirit.

“When people enter the mosque, they are all united by their common goal of worshiping Allah. This creates a sense of connection, personal enrichment, and strengthened relationships.” explained UAH as he is affectionately known.

Regarding the Prophet's second strategy, Ustaz Adi Hidayat challenged his colleagues in the tabligh assembly in each region to have one IT expert who can make an application.

"For example, we can create an application called Tablig Berkemajuan. As it expands, it becomes a dynamic force, connecting communities and linking them to the beating heart of mosques. This, he asserts, is a tangible manifestation of the Prophet's second strategy - a selfless offering tailored to meet the precise needs of the people, devoid of personal gain”.

Ustaz Adi's idea is intended to provide an easy platform for online preaching, donations, and even zakat based on integrated, targeted, and applicable applications that reach mosques throughout the region.

In line with the rapid development of the world of technology, the idea of the Ustaz sounds promising for the Muhammadiyah youth who are involved in the IT field to realize the organization's great ideals, namely progressive da'wah.
