Lecturers from the Management Department, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), took part in the Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) Conference held at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey. This international conference lasted for three days and brought together academics, researchers, and business practitioners from around the world.
Seven lecturers from the Management Department at FEB UMS served as presenters at the scholarly forum. According to the Head of the Management Department, Dr. Rini Kuswati, S.E., M.Si., CMA., two of the participants were early-career lecturers, as part of UMS's effort to mentor young faculty and introduce them to the international academic community.
“We want our young lecturers to learn directly from global forums,” said Dr. Rini Kuswati on Monday (4/8/2025).
During the conference, UMS lecturers presented research related to economics, management, and marketing. The sessions were conducted professionally, each led by a session chair and followed by in-depth discussions with participants from various countries, including the United States, Russia, Japan, and Eastern European nations.

Dr. Rini Kuswati, S.E., M.Si., CMA., delivered her presentation titled "Does Emotional Value Drive Sustainable Consumption Behaviour? What About Social Value?" at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul.
She explained that the EBES Conference is recognized as a prestigious platform that enables participants to publish their work in Scopus-indexed journals. The conference offers a clear outcome: each paper has the opportunity to be published, either in journal format or as a book chapter. The publication follow-up process is expected to take approximately six months.
The active participation of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) lecturers in the conference not only contributed to academic development but also opened up opportunities for international collaboration. During the event, lecturers were assigned to establish communication with participants from other countries to foster research partnerships and knowledge exchange.
“We don’t want global discourse to remain just a topic of discussion on campus, we want it to be part of our lecturers' real activities, including attending international academic forums,” explained her.
In terms of curriculum and research development, the lecturers gained fresh insights and constructive feedback to enhance the quality of their research. These outcomes are expected to positively impact their indexed publication output and enrich classroom teaching materials.
In addition to being an academic forum, the event, held successfully from Thursday to Saturday, July 3–5, 2025, was also used to explore institutional cooperation. One of the initiatives currently under discussion is a potential collaboration with the Faculty of Business at Bahcesehir University, which may include joint lectures, summer programs, and student exchanges to Turkey.
“This conference marks an initial step toward building collaborative ties with international universities. We hope to see concrete follow-ups, such as joint research projects or student exchange programs,” she concluded.
