The 6th International Sports and Arts Week (Porseni), hosted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), has officially come to a close. The closing ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 4, at the Mohammad Djazman Auditorium of UMS.
The event, which was held from Monday to Wednesday, September 2-4, 2024, was initiated by the Communication Forum of Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions (FKPTKIS) of Central Java.
A total of 1,247 participants from five countries took part in the competition, which embraced the theme Eksplorasi Talenta dalam Semangat Solidaritas, Kreativitas, dan Sportivitas (Talent Exploring in the Spirit of Solidarity, Creativity, and Sportivity).

Dr. Syamsul Hidayat, M.A., Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) at UMS, shared that the 6th International Porseni served as a form of camaraderie and warmth among Islamic universities, both within Central Java and internationally. He expressed his hope that Porseni will continue to grow and expand on a global scale.
“We at FAI UMS are grateful and pleased that Porseni has strengthened the bonds of friendship and collaboration among Islamic universities,” said Syamsul.
Dr. KH. Ahmad Tantowi, M.Si., M.Pd., Chairman of FKPTKIS Central Java, expressed his gratitude to UMS for successfully hosting the event through a pantun. He also shared plans for Muhammadiyah and NU to collaborate as promoters for organizing an International Porseni event abroad.
“We have agreed to unite PCM (Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership) and PCINU (Special Branch of Nahdlatul Ulama) abroad to organize the International Porseni,” said Tantowi.
In his speech, Tantowi also announced that the host of the 7th Porseni in 2026 will be Institut Islam Nahdlatul Ulama (INISNU) Temanggung.
The decree was read by Dr. Mutohharun Jinan, M.Ag., Chairman of the 6th International Porseni Committee, with Muhammad Subhi Apriantoro, L.C., M.H., as secretary. Among the four sports categories and five arts categories, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto emerged as the overall champion, followed by STAI Al-Anwar Sarang Rembang, Universitas Sains Al-Qur’an Wonosobo, Institut Islam Mambaul Ulum Surakarta, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
