This award was received by the Rector of UMS, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si., at Hotel Tentrem Semarang, Friday (6/10/2024).
The award was given by Suara Merdeka as an appreciation for UMS commitment to applying the values of moderation in religious and national life.

According to him, this award serves as evidence that UMS has successfully fulfilled its role as a Muhammadiyah higher education institution, which always prioritizes a balance between worldly and spiritual values.
“This award is very fitting because UMS, as a Muhammadiyah university, must always prioritize moderation in every aspect of life,” he added.
Furthermore, the Rector explained that the moderation implemented at UMS encompasses a deep understanding of religious teachings, not only for Muslims but also emphasizes tolerance towards other religions, races, ethnicities, and more.
“Moderation is not just about tolerance; it’s about spreading kindness to everyone and everywhere. This aligns with the teachings of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, the founder of Muhammadiyah, who always emphasized the importance of spreading goodness to all of humanity,” he explained.
This award further solidifies UMS's reputation as an Islamic campus capable of implementing the concept of religious moderation in a tangible way. It demonstrates that UMS is not only focused on advancing knowledge but is also committed to fostering harmony among religious communities.
Sofyan hopes this achievement will serve as motivation for the entire UMS academic community to continue actively promoting moderation, both on campus and within the wider society.
“This is a form of recognition for our efforts in practicing the values of moderation taught by Muhammadiyah,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of Central Java, Police Commissioner General Nana Sudjana, also expressed his appreciation for the Satria Award, which has been successfully held for the 12th year.
“This award also serves as a networking forum with influential figures in Central Java held at the end of each year. May it continue to inspire and motivate us to develop ourselves, our institutions, and our brands,” he emphasized.
