Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) reaffirms its strategic role as a pioneer in nationally reputable publication collaborations. This commitment was highlighted during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universitas Muhammadiyah Mahakarya Aceh, held at the Siti Walidah Main Building, UMS, on Tuesday (20/5/2025).

UMS Rector, Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, S.E., M.Hum., explained that the partnership is a concrete call for all lecturers to collaborate in producing indexed and reputable publications.

“UMS not only encourages but also invites all lecturers from Universitas Muhammadiyah Mahakarya Aceh to write and publish scholarly work collaboratively,” said Harun.

According to Harun, this collaboration is crucial for enhancing the academic reputation of both institutions, especially in the realm of international publications. It also reflects UMS’s commitment to being at the forefront of the movement to write and disseminate knowledge.

“We want UMS to be at the front line as a driver of change, a leader in reputable and indexed publication collaborations,” he emphasized.

Harun stated that this step aligns with the university’s grand vision, known as I’M UMS (Islamic, Enlightening, Excellent, Global, and Sustainable). Being a catalyst in academic collaboration, he added, is part of UMS’s mission to provide high-quality and enlightening higher education.

The UMS rector emphasized the importance of fostering an academic culture of mutual support among lecturers across campuses. “We invite everyone to do good through writing. This is part of scholarly da’wah. We want publications to be a field of lasting charitable deeds with wide-reaching impact,” he said.

As an excellent university committed to sustainable science, UMS does not merely aim for the quantity of publications, but also quality and their impact on society. Through a collaborative approach, UMS seeks to strengthen the collective spirit among Muhammadiyah academics.

“Reputable publications are a bridge to bring our ideas to global forums. This collaboration must be seen as a leap toward an international reputation that is Islamic and enlightening,” Harun concluded.
